The Cambridge System
The curriculum of The International School Ikast-Brande is patterned on the Cambridge Educational System, an internationally recognised standard of education. Many international schools use the Cambridge standards and curriculum to plan quality lessons. The resources used are similar across schools, which helps children when they transfer between two international schools.
The system is prevalent all over the world, its leaving exams granting access to International Baccalaureate schools (IB), and thus to an internationally accredited secondary education.
As a Cambridge International Centre our standards are monitored, ensuring that the teaching is of a high standard. The teaching staff are also able to access further training on latest educational issues.
The Cambridge Education System is based on Mathematics, English, and Science. The remainder of the subjects will be a combination of Danish and international standards.
Danish language is offered as a second language at the levels to suit the pupil. German and French will be offered too.

Levels
The Cambridge Educational System divides students into three levels:
-
The Cambridge International Primary Programme (CIPP) for the age group 5-11 years.
At International School Ikast-Brande CIPP is followed in English, Mathematics and Science. The Curriculum provides standard benchmarks for each year in the primary school. -
Lower Secondary Programme (LSP) for the age group 11-14 years.
Students continue the Cambridge Curriculum in English, Mathematics and Science to checkpoint exams taken at age 14. Cross curricular project work continues, however more formal approaches are used in other subjects to lay the foundations for the IGCSE courses. -
Senior Secondary Programme for the age group 14-16 years.
In the course of the Senior Secondary Programme students work towards an IGCSE examination. IGCSE stands for International General Certificate of Secondary Education. The IGCSE allows students to choose subjects according to ability and interest.
The Cambridge Educational Programme is a flexible education system allowing access to IBO Diploma Studies. Most teachers have substantial experience of the British National Curriculum andall the staff have high expectations.
