Reading

As we complete our Book Week 2023 its interesting to know a few facts about reading.

Women globally suffer from being illiterate more than men. Two thirds of all illiterate people are female, nearly all due to cultural and religious reasons. Due to Covid around 100 million children are behind in literacy due to the pandemic. Denmark has a 99% literacy rate, which is one of the best in the world.

Romantic books are the biggest seller worldwide with the next genre, crime, selling less than half of that. E-book use rose by over 20% due to the pandemic however printed books still outsell e-books by four to one.

Here is the Times magazine 100 best books of 2022. Enjoy and keep on reading!!
