This week we celebrated International education day with a thank you from our wonderful parents to the staff in the form of a gift basket. Students made thank you cards and paper flowers and an assembly was held to talk about the theme for this year’s UNESCO celebration day – Hate speech and how education can help overcome it.
Unfortunately it is social media and the use of tracking cookies that is actually causing a huge increase in hate speech and actions as people are ‘sent down the rabbit hole’ by cookies constantly providing similar information to that you may have looked at. Over time this is all you will see and personal thoughts can be overcome.
This week Denmark introduced a law banning hate actions such as peacefully burning religious text with up to two years in prison. The battle between free expression and hate tolerance has deepened and it is only through education and parental guidance that we can overcome it.
