International School Ikast-Brande
Meet the team

Niall Connell - M.Ed., M.Sc.
Deputy Head of School
Niall grew up in Carlow - Ireland, and was awarded a scholarship by the Irish Department for Education and Skills to study at Dublin City University, where he completed a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Business and Irish. During this time, he discovered a lasting love of language and learning.
His passion for travel led him into international teaching, where he complimented his Teaching English as a Foreign Language qualification with valuable experience working with children from diverse backgrounds. Wanting to continue developing as an educator, Niall completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Education with an international focus at the University of Nottingham.
Niall also holds a Master of Education in Pastoral Care, Guidance and Pupil Support from the University of Aberdeen, as well as a Master of Science in Psychology from the University of Nottingham. Furthermore, he has achieved a Certificate of Competence in Educational Testing (CCET) and is listed on the Register of Qualifications in Test Use through the British Psychological Society.
Having taught in Thailand, Oman and Denmark, Niall has worked with students across both Primary and Secondary age groups. He places strong emphasis on wellbeing, relationships and helping every child feel supported and confident in their learning.
Living and working in Denmark has been especially meaningful for Niall, both personally and professionally. He values the opportunity to work in a forward-thinking school community alongside engaged students, supportive parents and dedicated colleagues.
