The PISA results are in for 2023 (Program International Students Assessment), overall a general global downturn of 10% in standards with only 18 countries being above the average.
Unfortunately across the Nordic region the decline is even worse, Denmark fell 12% and the other Nordic countries even further. The current Government is caught in a whirlwind of issues with demands for no testing and assessment, shorter days, more freedom and better choices but with a shortage of skilled teaching staff the standard of education has fallen consistently for almost a decade.
As a very experienced international educator; and on top of last week’s news with 10% of all students in Denmark failing to achieve a 2 (= E ) - in national tests, it saddens me to see so much young talent go to waste. Poor systems, weak identification of needs, almost zero assessment and challenge means many talented youngsters are simply slipping through the system, bored and not meeting their potential.
Having a school with a supportive Board, excellent staff and teachers and the autonomy to direct the education we are very pleased and proud when our students achieve above international averages, as we have seen over the last four years.
We are especially pleased that you have chosen for your children to make this important stretch on their educational journey together with us!
